Rare Rob Moroso Crown Petroleum NASCAR Stock Car Promo

This is a rare Crown Petroleum promo. Released almost 30 years ago in 1989, just months before his death, this is Rob Mororso’s Oldsmobile Stock Car.

Rob Moroso is one of the sadder stories in NASCAR history. A promising young driver who was the Busch series champion in 1989, and posthumously awarded the Winston Cup rookie of the year in 1990, his life was cut short when he lost control of his car on the way home from a race. Unfortunately according to published reports,he was estimated to be doing double the posted speed limit when he lost control, resulting in an accident that took the life of a young woman driving the other car. A tragedy for all involved. He was the son of Dick Moroso of Moroso Performance.

This piece was produced by Racing Champions for Crown Petroleum, and this Crown Racing piece was sold at their retail stores, and the race track trailer. It is hard to find today with it’s original packaging like this one.
