The story is that Road Champs had extra castings of the 57 Corvette, but wanted a new model for this series. So they designed a roofline with windshield and surfboard holder, and laid it backwards on the Corvette body casting. If you look closely at the casting, the story is indeed true. The front of the Surf Rider is actually the rear fenders of the corvette. The cove behind the front wheels of the vette is there, but the front wheels\/fenders arenow the rear wheels since they put the roof on facing the rear of the Corvette casting. We didn't believe Road Champs really did this, until we saw these cars in person.
