Matchbox Ferrari Testarossa Promo Model

This is an interesting find. This is the Ferrari Testarossa from Matchbox. This variation is an uncataloged variation. This is not listed in any MB guide or website listing, including the Matchbox Collectors Club catalog, which is the most comprehensive listing we are aware of.

We received 5 of these as part of a large collection we recently purchased that had a large number of MB Promo items in it, including Mattel Salesman’s Binders, Mattel glassware, and about 50 Mattel Promo models. We have one left to make available here in our online store!

After consulting with a number of well renown MB collectors, we have come to the conclusion this was most likely used as MB Salesman’s promo. We are basing that on the quantity of Mattel corporate material, giveaways, literature, and promo models that were part of this collection.

We have also come to the conclusion that the car is most likely the same Ferrari Testarossa model that was used for the Miami Vice Star Cars series. It appears to be the same car, without the hood graphics. Wheels and interior are the same. The only other all white Testarossa was the Graffic Traffic model, but that had a white interior.

So the car is somewhat of a mystery but one thing is certain, you are not likely to see another one. It is Mint, the box shows its age. This is a great cross collectible, so if you collect Ferrari, Promos, or Matchbox this is a great find for your collection
