This is an unbelievable find! This is the prewar (No. 4647) Renault Army Tank. This was produced by Tootsietoy from 1931-1941) Production ceased when the US joined WWII. These are very rare on today's collector market, and it's been almost 10 years since we've had one of these to offer for sale.
This one has two things that need to be restored. The gun turret has snapped off, it is normally about 3/4 inch long. That would need to be restored, and the rubber tracks can be purchased from Tootsietoy reproduction parts mfgs. Our suggestion for restoration of the turrett would be to acquire a lesser quality version, and then have a metalwork expert remove/replace from one to the other. As this piece is in wonderful condtion in terms of paint, and working wheels/axles. It has edgewear, but it's one of the nicest examples we've seen in a long, long time. If you collect Tootsietoys you that these have been auctioning for well over $100 for Mint or Near Mint pieces, and you also know tha those are rarely ever offered for sale. If you collect Tootsietoys, Renault, or Military Vehicles this is a wonderful chance to add a rare piece to your collection at less than half the price a Mint piece would cost you.....if you could find one.
