This is the 1947 Oil Tanker, No. 235. There are two castings of this truck, one has only two caps on the tank, the other has four caps. This is the four cap model! This is from the Tootsietoy 3” series. This was produced from 1947-1954. This is the red version, the majority was blue.
This one has a fair amount of paint loss, it retains approx 50% of its original paint, but it rolls nicely. This is a great candidate for restoration, or customization for a train layout. This has been priced at less than a third of the book value of a Mint piece, to reflect paint wear; you simply will not find a better unrestored example of this 50+ year old tanker for this price!
